Have my DS rig for over a year and I basically just installed realtemp/prime 95 to see where things are at.

my setup:
Asus p6x58d Premium
6gb Corsair dom @ 1435mhz with the OC
i7 920 @ 3.7ghz (1.35 v core) - Noctua NH D14 fans
2x 580
HaF 932

I've let Prime 95 run for about 10 mins now and I'm seeing temps at 85. I did not to the OC myself. The OC is what DS put in when they made the comp

This has me a bit worried...any tips for getting the temps down? My plan is to get the new 3930 i7's when they release and I was really hoping to push them to around 4.6ghz on my current air but will make changes if necessary.

Thanks guys!

first off those new processors wont work in your current rig. You would need new motherboard, new ram and maybe even a new heatsink depending on how the holes are mapped out for them. Possibly even a new case(not sure how the layout is going to be on the 2011 boards)

When was the last time you blew out all the dust in your case and the fans?

Lastly what kind of ambient temps are you seeing in the room your computer is in?

Right, the x79 mobo's are coming out and so I'll be waiting until then to grab them. Will also be grabbing 8gb of the ripjaw ram. Didn't know about the heatsink and the case though...HaF 932 is a full tower case that's pretty popular. Do you really think I'd have to grab a new case?

I blow the dust out regularly but it does seem a bit hard to get everything out of the processor.

Ambient temps are sitting at 40

leave the ripjaw where its at, no need for that.

you will new ram/mobo/cpu, for heatsink you need get the adaptor for socket 2011 when it comes out, they should all fit in your haf.

what is your room temp?

maybe have DS look over your oc and see if they can lower the vcore a bit and see if that helps with temps, you got the right cooler, your room temps is good, so your load temps should be good not at 85c, so it must be your oc settings.

adapter for the noctua so that it will fit the new cpu that uses socket 2011.
