Well as a few of you know something came up and I couldn't afford my i7 system. So I just decided I would build myself a decent dual core at home. Here are the parts im using(including links), let me know what ya think.

Case: Antec 900
MB: MSI P45  Neo2-FR
Ram: Corsair Dominator 4gb ddr2 1066 Dual channel with fan
GPU: Powercolor radeon HD 3870x2
Disk: Samsung 22x DVD burner.
OS: Vista Home Premium 64 bit
PSU: Rosewill 550w
CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8500 3.16Ghz, Will be OC'd
CPU Cooler: XIGMATEK HDT-S1283
Q9550 @ 3.4Ghz for now
Xigmatek Thor's Hammer
MSI P45 Neo2-fr
6gig 1066 Corsair Dominator
XFX Radeon HD 4890
PC Power&Cooling 750W
Seagate Barracuda 500Gb
Antec 900

theres so much better and less expensive components.

mobo:
asus p5q
gigabyte ds3l

ram:
seriously.. corsair dominator for a budget build?
gskill
ocz

psu:
antec is better than rosewill for budget
there's also corsair if you don't plan on upgrading

gpu: why spend $200 on a last gen 3870x2 when 4870 can be found for ~$230 and 4850 can be found for ~$140 and a 4830 can be found for ~$120.. all of which destroys the 3870x2 -.-

cpu: e8500 is a good choice. if you are interested in a quad, you can select the q6600 for the same price.
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

I choose the E8500 for its OC potential. Ive seen a lot of people having problems with gskill lately so I wanted to steer clear of that. I just got the Corsair dominator cause i wanted the fans.

Also I already had the 3870x2. I don't want to spend more money on a GPU right now.

I choose my Mobo because I wanted 2 pcie x16 slots.

No special reason I choose the rosewill but they have a pretty good warranty. Also wanted the blue LED fans in it like my antec 900 case will.

This system will eventually be upgraded to a quad core with better GPU's and of course a more powerful PSU

No no. What im saying is when I boot my system, the fan on the card try to start and then stops, it also does this when I turn it off. When I turn the computer on I plug the monitor into my graphic card just to see if i get a signal and i get nothing.

I haven't even gotten to install vista yet. I forgot to order an HDD from newegg with the rest of my parts so ill just go out and buy one today.

Sounds like your 3870X2 might be DOA. Call New egg and ask about RMA.

I installed my 2600pro from my old pc into it and its fan started up just fine but no signal came from either card.

How can install the OS without being able to see my screen???

No, it will require extensive steps to make it work in the new PC.

If you want I can post the steps but it takes a long time and many steps, and it doesn't always workout

If you aren't getting beep codes, it means a defective motherboard.

Yes i have the 24pin main connector and the 8pin for the cpu.

Also if this helps idk but, the graphics card does not boot unless I start the system a certain way. If i just push the power button it does not work. To get it to work I have to:
1) turn the system on.
2) turn off the power supply.
3) turn on the power supply.
4) turn the system on right after step 3 without any delay.

Im not sure what the problem is. But im guessing PSU or Mobo.
