Hello All,
As the subject says, I am hoping to purchase this week. I found out over the weekend that my 7 year old comp cant play Diablo 3 so that has accelerated my upgrade window. A planned business trip may delay the purchase but I should have time. My budget is 2-2.5k and I will not need any accessories (mouse, keyboard, etc.). I will be using the comp for gaming on a 21.5 inch 1920x1080 monitor as well as normal web surfing. I may add a 2nd monitor in the future if I can find the space. Here is my current config.: Ticket Number: 690256 Total Price with Instant Savings: $2,450.00 Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K 3.50 GHz (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) (Requires Z77 Motherboard) Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 (Intel Z77 Chipset) (Features Thermal Armor and Thermal Radar) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1050W Corsair Pro Silver 1050HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Corsair) (Model: Force GT Series CSSD-F120GBGT-BK) (SATA 6Gbps) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital/Seagate/Hitachi/Samsung (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray Player/DVD Writer (Play Blu-Ray and Burn DVDs) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB (Includes PhysX) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex Liquid CPU Cooler (High-Performance Edition) H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Blue) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro/Deluxe/Sabertooth Motherboard) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Extra Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty I went with the 1050X power supply so I can have the option to add a 2nd 670 in the future and the 7 year warranty is a nice feature as well. Any suggestions and improvements will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. |

Hi Hughbert 171 and welcome to the forums.
You put togther a really nice build. I just have 2 suggestions for you. 1. Change the cooler to the Noctua NH-D14 Air Cooler it is extremely reliable and better than the Vortex Liquid Cooler. This change would add $30 to your price. 2. Consider changing your SSD to the 120GB Intel 520. It is better than the Corsair and has a 5 yr warranty. You have to click on edit then expert mode to see it. This is a $30 change also. For both changes your cost would be $2510. If you can only go with one of the changes I would go with the Noctua NH-D14 air cooler. |

Thanks for the compliment and advice Asangard. I have been looking into upgrading my comp for the last year so I have had plenty of time to do some research.
In regards to your suggestions, are they more performance based, reliability based, or both? Thanks again! |

Both. The Noctua NH-D14 will do a better job of cooling than the Vortex and is extremely reliable. Espicially in the HAF X case which is the best for Air Cooling. Most say it is even better than the Corsair H-100 Liquid Cooler and I agree. The Intel 520 SSD is faster and has a longer warranty 3yrs for the Corsair and 5yrs for the Intel.

If that is the case, then I will definitely make both those changes. I want this computer to last me a good while.
I will wait and see if anyone else has any suggestions and if not, hopefully purchase on Tuesday or Wednesday. Thanks again for the suggestions. |
