I recently got my new rig, and decided to add a side fan to my HAF 922 case. It is a cooler master fan just like the ones on top and front (200mm). Running Kombuster, my GPU used to get up to 90 C and level off. Now after I added the side fan, it gets up to 92 C........ I just don't understand.... the whole point of me adding the fan was to try to drop that temp. Can anyone explain this??
If it makes any difference the GPU is a gtx 470... |

its really likely that your temps didnt change at all, it was just a different time of day or the ac wasnt running this is what i mean when i talk about air plateauing so quickly youll make more progress changing your fan profile then trying to give it more fresh air |

It may also depend if your fan add-on is better as a push or pull configuration. Try swapping it around.

Ok, I made a custom fan profile for the gtx 470, and that definitely helped my temps quite a bit without adding much fan noise.
I'm much happier with the temps now, its just weird to me that adding that extra 200mm fan didn't decrease my temps at all. I'm in the basement and the AC in the house is always at 70, making it about 68 in the basement. Do you still think i should try reversing the new side fan so its pulling air out of the case instead of bringing air in?? I just assumed that since I had a top and rear fan moving air out, that i would want another fan bringing air in. |

If the case internal temp is close to the ambient air temp, adding more fans will not help. On a case that has good airflow, adding more fans will generally not help. I would keep it as is though.
