I don't trust Vista, so I'm using a directX 9 videocard, also because they're cheaper. I plan on using it to play a lot of old computer games, plus a few new ones (Guild Wars, Quake 4, Oblivion, etc.) along with some degree of media work (Image editing, possibly Blender, Openoffice) My budget is in the 1200-1300 dollar range.

Is there a reason why you need wireless?

I suggest going with the 7900GT 256MB card since a lot of games don't need 512MB of memory at low resolutions.

With regards to the wireless, the router will be in a different room than the computer. and with regards to the 7900 GT, I'll keep the suggestion in mind.

I'd suggest dropping down to XP Home and saving $50-$55. Why not.... I used XP Home for 6 years and never missed the PRO features which I think are mostly networking security related. Use the bucks to step up to an E6750 CPU or spend it on BioShock or Crysis.  Cool
