Topic: How Big Can I goPosted: 27 Oct 2008 at 4:17pm |

I'm the proud, and uneducated, owner of a new DS PC, and am researching a new monitor. The question I have is how big of a screen can I get without impacting performance.
I have 2g Ram, AMD Quad (2.2) and a 9800gtx+, not sure what else is pertinent to this question. Can I run a 22in at full res, or will that slow me down a lot.
Appreciate your responses.

9800GTX will run most games reasonably well at 1680x1050 (22" native LCD), you may not be able to crank things to Max, but certainly you will not need to turn off all the eye candy either.
If you step down to 1440 x 980 (20" Native LCD) you would probably be able to Max out eye candy with no real issues. Dave ![]() |

Thanks for the quick responses,
Since I really have nothing to compare to, is it preferable to have smaller screen with everything turned up?
I thought 1680x1050 was native res on 22in.

lower resolutions, will allow you higher settings on games, and vise versa

Ok, so I'm finding both 20in and 22in with 1680x1050 for the native res. Is it the res or the size of the monitor that will cause me problems? Will my pc run a 20in 1680x1050 better than a 22in, or the same since the res is the same?

its the resolution that you want to look at, at 1680 x 1050 and above, DS recommends 2 GPUs for best results
