I have two ATI 6950 and I'm wanting to set up 5 monitors.

I'm using 3 24" monitors, each with one VGA/DVI/HDMI

The other two monitors are 8" displays that only have a VGA connection.

How would I go about connecting these up to a pair of 6950s? I think they all have to go in one card if I'm not mistaken.

So which adapters should I get and which monitor should go into which connector on the card?

I understand I'll need to get an actice display adapter. But since I'm using 5 moinitors, will I need more than one? I think one DVI connection on the card is shared with the HDMI which I think screws up everything for me. There are 5 video outputs on a single 6950. If two of them are shared, how is it even possible to connect up to 5 monitors.

Please advise.

have look here

you got 2 x 6950? I'm not 100% sure, but try using the dvi ports to connect 4 monitors, and then use teh mini ports to connect the fifth port, you can get mini port to vga adapters if you need it, you can get dvi/hdmi to vga adapters if you like also.

I think I can use the 4 DVI ports but then I can't use crossfire. This is my dilmena.
I guess I should have mentioned in my original post, "set up 5 monitors and use crossfire"

Ok then again, I'm no expert, but perhaps, what you do is use the 2 dvi ports, use a hdmi to dvi adapter, adn then 2 mini port to vga adapters and connect all five.

you sound like you could use a eyefinity 6.

Thats what I was planning on doing when I bought the cards. From what I've read though, the HDMI output on the card is shared with one of the DVI connections. This ruins everything for me.
I just learned about the eyefinity 6 while doing more research. Expensive for a single card, even on last years technology.

Have to have display port to DVI adapters, no if's, and's or butt's about it.

the 6950 will run 6 monitors by itself... all of the 6950's can do this.

ok, maybe I'm just being shallow but I still have the same question. How do you get 6 monitors on 5 outputs?
Are you assuming one of the outputs would be using a displayport hub or Triplehead2go?
