I just got my system 2 days ago. I have built many computers but the DS system is by far the best!
I have never built a system with ESA and I would appreciate any help offered so I can understand how to control the fans for the case and liquid cooling system.
I have gone into the NVIDEA control panel and noted that all fans were at 100 %. Shouldn't the "Silverstone Commander" throttle the fans according to Temperatures?
I clicked on the chaasis profile and tried to reduce the fans manually but that has no effect. What am I missing?

nvidia control panel, performance tab, then device settings. Every ESA compliant component will be listed and you can change just about everything for each component from that tab.
Also the system monitor allows easy monitoring and logging of temps, voltages, clock speeds, whatever... That, in a nutshell, is ESA. the pdf linked above is also a useful read. |

OK that info was somewhat helpful.
But when I change the fan speeds nothing happens. Also I do not have the water cooling Icon for control of the coolant temps. Another thing I noticed is that I do not have the option to change the dynamic Bios settings

The LC pumps DSO uses are not ESA compliant meaning you can't monitor coolant temps. As far as dynamic bios, I'm not sure, you have to accept the EULA before you have access to those settings. If you've done that and still can't, I'm not sure.
Also, trying turning all your case fans to 0% and wait a few seconds. They should stop spinning, if not, the ESA commander isn't connected correctly, which is doubtful because you wouldn't be able to see the fans if it wasn't. I also didn't think it was having any effect until I turned them all off and watched them stop spinning - even at 100% they're very quiet. You might also be hearing the GPU fan, which can also be turned down in the control panel. |

Thanks for the help. I did what you said about bringing the fans to zero and they did stop but one was still going at 100%. It turns out that fan was not connected to the ESA. Another fan that was quite loud was the MCP fan. I went into the Bios and set it to auto for that fan. Now the system is very quiet. So all in all the system is working very well.
Thanks Again Edited by [email protected] - 07 Nov 2008 at 9:16pm |
