I had the admin make changes to allow people to vote in the polls. Sorry, we are still setting everything up.

Definitely fits with the DS theme..  It's kind of hard to critique it by structure now, since there isn't exactly a ton of traffic yet.  I'd guess that you'll want some sub-forums in the technical and general forums, though.

The site is a great idea.  In the gaming section I would like to see a RPG area.  It seems that we have the others covered so throw us RPG players a frickin bone, lol like Dr. Evil.  Keep the forums rolling.

I'm contemplating moving to the RC7 version of phpBB3 and am wondering if anyone else has done that with their live forums.

The problem I have with the forum isn't the structure you created, but with the software package itself. The whole presentation needs to be more compact. Over just the last 2.5 months, the topics list has grown to such a size that it's difficult to find stuff. Maybe you do need to break the catagories into more specialized areas to make it easier to sort through old postings.

I'd like to seem smaller fonts, less white space and more information per page.

Still all in all it's a great service. Thumbs%20Up

This forum is ok - not horrible, but not cutting edge.

To be honest, I'd be happy if it would just keep me logged in!

I like it, easy enough to navigate, but tuff to find older info.

I voted it's "ok". I love the community. The attention paid to the forums by DSO is really impressive as well.

So why just "ok"?

The layout itself could use a bit of tweaking. Topic stickies would help alot. So would topic index (no reply) threads with links to threads on popular topics and questions previously asked. By linking to a specific thread, information on that topic would be more concentrated and thus easier to reference.

The Performance Related section in particular would benefit from such a topic index, as the number of stickies has grown to the point where it is a bit unwieldy to quickly find information, and new threads are pushed to page 2.

An FAQ sticky for the technical assistance section could also prove very helpful.

Overall, the forums are a great idea, and are very useful, but they could be improved upon IMO.

The performace section has too many topics stickied... if they could be shifted to "announcement in that forum only" (an option in web wiz) that might help but would be even better would be a consoldation of all that info. (ie a performance FAQ or something)

Amen! There could be a "Performance FAQ" folder within Performance that contains all the stickies - good idea..
