I ordered my system last week, and this is a dumb question while I'm awaiting the time when I can pick up my system from the factory in Fremont.
Questions on the ASUS P67 MOBO USB 2.0 connections, as Digital Storm builds up the systems. The question is pretty hardware specific, and Digital Storm installation practice specific. The P8P67 Deluxe MOBO (the one I ended up getting since it was one of the few in stock when I ordered my system last week) has TWO USB 2.0 headers. Other ones of the ASUS MOBOs have THREE USB 2.0 headers, but the Deluxe has only two. All of the ASUS P67 MOBOs have one USB 3.0 header. The Deluxe MOBO comes with a box to be mounted in an optical drive bay to give you two USB 3.0 ports on the front panel, in addition to those on the back panel. This box connects to the USB 3.0 header. I'm presuming that Digital Storm installs this as a matter of course. My HAF922 chassis has a front I/O panel with USB 2.0 x 2, MIC x 1, eSATA x 1, Audio x 1 (support HD / AC97 Audio). I would guess that Digital Storm wires up ONE of the USB 2.0 headers on the MOBO, plus other headers for the eSATA and audio. Here's the question. Does this installation of the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe MOBO in the HAF922 case use up ONE of the two USB 2.0 headers and the ONE USB 3.0 header on the MOBO, leaving one unused 2.0 header? Reason I'm asking is whether there is still an unused 2.0 header on the MOBO so I could put in an internal media card reader. The configurator warns that installing an internal reader disables two USB 2.0 front panel ports. It's not obvious to me that Digital Storm actually wires up four front panel USB 2.0 ports anyway as part of their installation. Thanks. Edited by bakerac - 18 Feb 2011 at 8:52pm |

Good question!
I've seen systems with the front USB 3.0 bay unit that the motherboards come with.
I believe the system will use both of the internal USB 2.0 ports on that chassis.
My advice, and recommendation is to contact us on Monday or send us a message (http://www.digitalstormonline.com/customerservice.asp) and we'll build the unit the way you would like us to do it.
