DSO really needs to make "No Video Card" an option. It's silly to have to buy any card when you don't need it. That aside....
Of course, the 650i motherboard can only take one video card. If that's all you want, fine. Otherwise, talk to DSO about installing two 8800 GTSs in the 750si case. It's doable, but maybe not advisable. At least, they may recommend an extra fan or two.
I think XP is still the right choice for now. Vista is a crap shoot. Others disagree.
You don't need to liquid cool the Q6600.
Power is okay, I think....
You're still a long way from $2K. I'd get a better motherboard. Edited by Bill the Cat - 18 Mar 2008 at 10:30am |

You might wanna check to see if that 620W PS is enough with 2 GTS cards the various other things youve selected.
http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html I put your stuff (except with a high end mobo instead and it was saying around 707W. Who knows if this stuff is correct though..lol.
The 780i is a good mobo ive been hearing, its not too much more expensive from the 680 LT...only 107 bucks more. Well within your current budget.
Tyler answered a question of mind in 780i vs 680i in my some questions topic in this forum, you should read that, it gives good info on the 780.

This is an important post for me about the 750i and the 2 8800GT's. This is what I was eventually going to do with this case, but is there room to add any other fans? I think it's only got the 1 120 in the front and 1 in the back. That throws a wrench in my master plan!

If you already own the system, it's possible to modify the case to mount additional case fans. You can also simply replace the stock fans with higher CFM models, and use a PCI expansion slot fan or two if modifying the case is something you don't think you are able, or want, to tackle.
If you have yet to order, order with stage 3 air cooling, and DSO will modify the case with an additional front intake 120mm fan, and replace the stock fans with premium models. IMO, if you are going to use the 750, you should seriously consider purchase of the 8800GTS over the 8800GT. The built in exhaust fans will help considerably. |

Another thing to consider is going with the 680i A1 Revision MOBO as it will provide a better overclock of the CPU then the 680i LT MOBO.

Thanks for the advise, but wondering about the statement above about going with the GTS over the GT, I don't think the frame increase justify's the cost.
When you say exhaust fan, do you mean that this card will suck/blow the air out of the slot?

the GTS has a much much better cooler then the GT, that alone would justify the extra cost for me.
