I'm currently awaiting my new DS computer - where are you UPS - so it comes with the Win 7 coupon. Just curious if anyone knows how this is going to play out. Do i take the coupon to a store to get the program?

I'm sure you will be given the option of getting a CD, MS is not in habit of distributing their OS via download.

I certainly hope it's a fresh install and not an upgrade. I've done Window's upgrades in the past and it's often not a pretty sight. Always better to fresh install.

Im also a bit sketchy with this whole win7 upgrade coupon.
Lets say i want to format my drives for no particular reason in 2 months and do a clean install. How will i install a fresh copy of win7 without jamming the coupon into the dvdrom drive? Or do we always have to install a clean version of vista and then upgrade to win7 again? They're being awfully vague here. It'd be great if the download is an iso image of win7 cd, hahaha. |

I just got a new DS system with coupon. Coupon says to go to www.windows7upgradeoption.com. You enter your code, address, email and you're set. Took me 2 mins and they send you a confirm e-mail.
From the upgrade site:
"Upgrades for qualifying orders will be shipped on DVD, beginning on the Windows 7 general availability date of 22 October 2009."
From the confirm e-mail: "Once your order has shipped, you will receive an e-mail confirmation which may include a link for tracking your shipment."
Also from the coupon: "The upgrade software is only available on DVD media"

told you guys, you get a dvd.
you have a choice to upgrade the vista or do a fresh install of win7. you can save oc in a profile in bios, then set bios to default, then install windows and then go back to bios and enable the profile with the oc on it. its always a good idea to install without the oc, that way you have the best chance of a good install, thats not to say you can't do it with the oc, its just not the best idea.
