I'll be using 24' monitor (1900x1200). Kinda new to this. Is liquid cooling the CPU a must when overclocking, or would it be a waste?? Anything I have on here not worth it/stupid. Anything I should add? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time

Solid build. Some recommendations though:
Get 4GB of 1600Mhz ram, the price difference is just too great, and the performance difference is almost nonexistant. You wont get the CPU overclocked high enough to get a decent ratio with 1800Mhz.
You could also save a bit of cash by not having a sound card and just getting one later if you feel like the sound quality isnt good enough. Personally i started without one and was fine with it, the only reason why i got a sound card was i just didnt have much else to add to this thing..and I like adding things lol..personally ive noticed zero difference between this sound card and the onboard i used to have.
Other then that, a really solid build. Check to see if that 1000W PS can handle a second 4870X2...I believe it can, but im not sure.

what is the resolution you are going to be playing games at?
no liquid cooling is easy as 1 2 3 check levels once a month, if needed add a bit of coolant, with the haf you can just do that from teh outside change liquid once every 5 yearsEdited by DST4ME - 06 Oct 2008 at 8:06pm |

One more question. What if I decided to add another 4870x2 sometime in the future, is there anything i should change now so I would be able to handle it?

Is overclocking stable. I keep reading stuff that says it can decrease the lifetime of you system, and it could be unstable. Thanks for all the help by the way i really appreciate it.. Just a worry wort when it comes to stuff like this. Thanks again!!

W2484, I wish we could find the people that write that stuff and line them up and then whoop their arse.
I'm so tired of people that don't know nothing but start to write articles as if they know what they are talking about. forget all that stuff, that is the only thing I don't like about the internet, people who don't know nothing can write stuff and you would have a difficult time telling the expert from the wannabe. we must ask ourselves, why would DS, Dell, HP and many other pc makers offer OC systems with warranty, if oc is bad and they lose money? answer is simple, shoot the wannabes, cause they are wrong. because oc is just fine, pc makers do it and offer warranty on it, they do so cause they know that its just fine. those same wannabes, thought they were OC experts too, tried to oc and burned their cpus, so they decided that since it was a bad thing for them, its a bad thing all the way around. just once before I die, I wish I could line them up, just once. lol hope that answers your question, and remember when you see a wannabe expert do this:

echo?
just to clarify, you don't need to change it every 3 to 4 years, HM is saying if you want to get the newest chip out then you would want to upgrade, not change. So no, if you do it right it will not change anything or give you anything to worry about. Edited by DST4ME - 06 Oct 2008 at 9:42pm |

its your CPU that your are OCing, to get a good speed, what you do is match the FSB speed of your CPU to your ram speed.
we have done that for you already. you have a q9650 chip, with this chip you can expect OC speeds of 3.8 to 4.0. Now remember I don't work for DS and DS doesn't guarantee any OC speeds before you buy the system, that number is based on what I have seen around
to figure what your ram can OC to you take your ram and ÷ by 2 1333 ÷ 2 = 666.5 then you multiply that by the multiplier of your CPU. q9650 has a multiplier of 9 9 x 666.5 = 5998.5 so theoretically that ram should let your CPU OC to almost 6.0GHz, which I don't think your mombo can even do. now remember, your OC speeds won't be no where near that.
