My other question would be how do I over clock this faster if possible but safely; At the moment the OC Genie is on at 3.76ghz stock is 3.06ghz. How do I tweak this properly in the bios. My memory is running at 9-10-9-27 at 1.65v New System I Built Case: Cooler master HAF X (Added extra fan on the top front) Motherboard: MSI Big Bang-XPower LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel CPU: Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz CPU COOLER: Corsair H70 Memory: CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240- Pin DDR3 2000 Corsair Air Flow Pro Video Card: GTX 480 (It was a step up from the 295 GTX I can’t complain) Free Power Supply: Corsair HX 1000 (1000 watts) Hard drive #1 Raptor 300GB Hard Drive #2 1TB WD Samsung DVD Drive (used what I had)

Welcome to the forums mastercraft2006! Fill out the BIOS template below. Even though it's for EVGA, change it to match your BIOS. If you can, post screenshots of cpuz, cpu tab and memory tab, and realtemp. Do you have linx, prime95 and memtest? If not, download those so you can check stability. What is your OC'ing goal? justin.kerr is a great oc'er, hopefully he will be by to lend a hand. My fault, I did not explain myself well enough.
The template I posted is an example. Do not use that for your system. Do you know how to get into your BIOS? Open cpuz and use the snipping tool to make a .png file, and then upload the pic into your post. If that doesn't work, you may have to use imageshack or something similiar.

The values that are in your current BIOS setup, transfer them to the template and repost the template. I am not familiar with the MSI BIOS, so change the template to match the BIOS. Hope that makes sense?
Do you have RealTemp?

The realtempGT pic you posted is for the golf town six core. You should also have RealTemp in the same download? Use that one. Keeping it the way it is, is up to you. Here is a pretty good article about oc'ing. Let us know what you would like to do?

I may be wrong, but isn't a QPI voltage of 1.59 even with VDroop enabled crazy high for everyday use?

Yes it is crazy high. And from what I read on other forums, the OC genie automatically does this and is a common problem.

AUTO settings, are always a bad idea. AUTO overclocking is a way worse idea..

I turned off OC Genie.
Is there a way to just keep the mulitplier on 20 instead of going from 12 to 20 it goes back and forth. the memory i have question on the DRAM Freq 605.8mhz
when i over clocked with OC genie the memory was near 900mhz. I cant get it up to 1800mhz,
any suggestions.,

Until someone more knowledgeable answers, I can tell yah that the multiplier skipping around is likely cause you have one of Intel's power management features enabled in the CPU config, speedstep, c1e support...something along those lines. To get the RAM frequency you want; you'd either need to keep raising the base clock, which at 200 brings some interesting challenges soon, or raise your DRAM ratio. Doing the latter I think would be wiser, however it's going to offset your whole overclock and you'll likely want to lower the base clock
and repeat the whole process again with the higher RAM ratio. Or you could just punch in high numbers and pray for the best. What I am curious about tho is whether running the tRFC that high has any hit on performance? |

Intel speedstep down clocks the multiplier during idle time for power savings.
To get your memory at 1800mhz, one way is to lower your base clock to 180 and set your memory ratio to 2:10. According to your cpuz, FSB:DRAM is set at a ratio of 2:6. As a suggestion if you make those changes, make a bootable disk of memtest and test the RAM prior to booting into windows. By the way, what are your BIOS settings after you disabled OC Genie? It may be a good idea to post your current BIOS settings prior to making any changes.

I updated my bios and I can't seem to get my 4.08ghz to run stable anymore. I'm running at factory clockspeed.
