If we offered to install your MMO(s) for you on the website? Like a configuration option where you could select one or more MMO for us to install and patch for you. I know how those games can take hours to patch (cough, EQ2, cough) and I was thinking it would be neat if you could just play them on your new comp right out of the box. Let me know what you think.

That would have been *great* to be able to just boot up and go straight into Eve, right out of the box. That is an awesome idea Dave.

Other games would definitely make sense as well. I know we've been tossing around the idea of selling the high end tittles like Crysis and such.

I think it's a great idea but I would include more than the MMO's like others are saying.

I actually asked for this. I asked if I could send some games to be installed so that I could be sure that my Vista 64 Bit machine would work out of the box with all the latest drivers. But I found that it would have delayed my order so I declined.

However, I think it is a fantastic idea for DS to offer to install a couple of games, even with the added cost.

Essentially, it would make the user very happy and it would ensure that the machines being sent out actually worked in the real world. It would likely result in reducing your technical assistance calls. So DS would actuallly make some money and save some at the same time.

I can see the value of the MMO's as pre-loaded because the developers/publisers would probably give you a break for doing that. DS could pocket some money with this.

However, you aren't going to make money on Guild Wars nor on stand alone games. Only games that have a monthly fee.

But the stand alone games are often what High end users really want.

Go for it!

I honestly don't think it's a good idea for us to install your games.
The reason being, becuase of the added time to install and make sure everything works.
There are COUNTLESS titles (Splinter Cell Double Agent for one off the top of my head) that just don't work well and need patches and what not.  It took SCDA 3 months to work with the 8800GTX card.  So what's going to happen when we come accross games that don't work with specific hardware or drivers and it takes an additional 2 weeks or more?  I mean seriously, we have a lot of customers that do NOTHING BUT COMPLAIN because we can't make our projected 7-10 business days, imagine that headache.  Sorry, but I do like ya'll, just not that much ;)

you could always just put a few titles on the list that you know work.  such as certain FPS's.

You probably could only do it if the program was extremely limited. You would have to do a bundle of certain components that you know work well with a certain game. Like a Crysis build for example. You could really push a lot of units that way. Or WoW build. That means no customoization when ordering.

In regards to your turnaround time, you simply have to stop offering such quick build and ship targets unless you pay an expedited fee.

I am sure marketing doesn't like that, but unless a person is ordering a build you know works well that is standardized, customization takes time.

Just two lousy cents.

Keep of the good work. Whatevery you decide will be fine I am sure.
