So I noticed the temps for my cpu cores on my mobo led display and HWMonitor typically are within 1C of each other. RealTemp tends to be about 10C higher than these readings. I've seen most people using RealTemp for the cpu temps. Any ideas which is most accurate?

As another note, my new system has a i7 930 oc'd to 4.1 with the dual loop lc setup. HWMonitor and my mobo are saying idle cpu temp around 30-35 and RealTemp is saying idle cpu temp around 40-45. Are these temps about right? I only ran P95 for about 10 mins (so far) but temps peaked at about 70 during that time.

if your temps under full load don't go pass 85c, you have nothing to worry about. temps under load are the only temps ones needs to worry about, unless idle temps go above 85c.

if his temps with Realtemp are under 85C yes I agree. lol

but since HW monitor has shown to read -40C to +20C HW monitor could read a nice 50C and yet the realtemps could be 90C

Thanks guys, I ran CoreDamage for about 15 mins and these were my temps so I think it's pretty good.

Duno, I'm certainly no expert either but those temps were under some serious load. I think that CoreDamage app crunches on the CPU quite a bit...I am using the basic sub-zero stage 6 dual-loop setup that DS offers. Don't know what temps other people are getting. And the oc is almost 4.1 which it should be able to handle easy imo but again I am no expert. I know they set the vcore to 1.4v which seemed a little high but I don't have much experience in the overclocking department either -_- but I was thinking that they may cause the somewhat higher temps (if they are, in fact, high).

Also, here are my idle temps. PC has been on all day (had just rebooted tho). They do seem a bit high. I was thinking they would be in the 30s but I don't know that it matters all that much as long as they don't go to 85 like justin/DST said above.

Dang, I have a Core i960.  I could swear I read where the max temp was 68c.  Is this wrong?  Or is it that much higher for the i930?

guys you can't compare system to system and cpu to cpu, each is different and will have different temps with different oc.

Idle temps don't matter, what is important is that load temps don't go over 85c.

What is accurate then Justin or DST?  What to use to load the CPU? What to use to get accurate temps?

I like to use fah smp client to load the cpu, but linx does it too, intel burn is another,

for extreme oc RealTemp here, but for ocs under 4.5Ghz, I find HWMonitor reports the same temps.

HW shows other temps that realtemp doesn't show, but realtemp seems to be a little more accurate on cpu temp.
