The other day I looked at some Graphics cards and PSU's and I looked at some specs and found out that a GTX 295 needs around 46A/GTX 285 needs 40A of current. My question to you all is that if two/three of them would use twice/three times as much current so some PSU's DS has to offer couldnt support Quad-SLI/Tri-SLI since eg. the HX 1000 has only 80A.

well, first of all i believe those ratings are for the entire system, not just for the card. 40A per card would be excessive lol.
You have to find the max draw of the card. Using http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gtx_285_us.html you see the max draw for the 285 is 204W. Now, since it will be on a 12V rail, divide the 204W by 12 to find the amperage. You get 17. So, at max the 285 needs 17A, not 40. Thus, tri SLI would only draw (at max) 51A, and not 120A. The 295 draws (at max) 289W. 289/12 = 24.08333... so quad SLI would draw ~48A. The 1000HX has 2x +12V@40A. It will run tri 285s and quad 295s easy. Also, incase you were wondering, each 295 will have 25A available (75W from the pcie slot, 150W from the 8-pin connector, and another 75W from the 6-pin), and each 285 would have 18.75A available (75W each from the pcie slot and the 2 6-pins).
