Is it possible to take a computer with the Sirius case to something like a lan party without denting it or warping it, and if so, what is the safest way to carry it around? (it's kinda heavy, so just carrying it in my arms isn't what I have in mind) Edited by roketman26 - 06 May 2008 at 9:19pm |

The safest way would be to find a place that does customized containers, and have them water jet foam inserts for it that will keep the computer safe while in transit. Something that can be opened from opposing sides works best. Casters wouldn't be a bad idea either considering the weight.
A cheaper alternative would be to get some luggage and manufacture a foam liner for it yourself. Make sure you use high density foam. 3M's Spray 90 works well bonding foam sections permanently. Edited by Tyler Lowe - 06 May 2008 at 11:06pm |

Pelican cases are very good. They aren't cheap, but they are tough.

realistically, its like any other piece of equipment, if you choose to have no case and you are careful, you will be completely fine. you should carry this case in your arms, unless you have the money to throw around on this other stuff, it really is the safest way.
as far as vehicle transport, i find it best to put the bag over it that it came with, and stand it up on the floorboard behind the driver seat and infront of the passenger seat, pinning it with a pillow or some form of blanket, towel, etc.
i transport my computer QUITE often, and this has always been my method, time tested.

you may also call ds and see if you can buy their robust shipping crate.

You could, but I'd take !ender's pillow method over lugging a giant wooden shipping crate to a LAN party.

I held onto the original boxes that my stuff comes in, since they are already made to hold the computer and peripherals.
