I knew there would be an issue regarding Fedex.

The driver claimed to have delivered this package but did not.  They sent my crate back to Digital Storm.

Needless to say Xii attack mode in progress.
I calmly told the poor Fedex rep (who I am currently on hold with) that regardless of their opinion, they will be bringing my package here.  Today.

Rawr.

I hate FailEx.

That really sucks...I truly feel for you.

As a retired FedEx person, let me give you information that might be helpful. First off, go to FedEx.com and print off a copy of the tracking information so you will see what the customer service rep sees. She will have more information than that but you'll have most of it.

The key is something called a DEX code that the driver is suppose to enter in their tracker/power pad that is an internal code for the exact reason the crate was not delivered. The driver is suppose to be very specific in the reason.

Also, they are not suppose to return the package without authorization for the shipper. Someone at the deliery station is suppose to call Digital Storm to ask them what to do with the package. Most likely DS would have called you to verify the address.

If it is, in fact, on the way back to DS in Cali, there is no way to get it back today unless it is still at a local hub. Ask the person you are talking to what the new tracking number is for the return; it's usually different than the one used to get it to you for billing purposes. If it's still at the hub, a ramp agent can retrieve it and send it back....but most likely will call DS for authorization.

I'll subscibe to this thread so you can ask me questions if need be.

Hope it works out.

Bobby beat me to punch with his recommendations. This is an interesting situation, I've seen multiple instances (in my history with the shipping industry) where the package is marked as delivered, but is not in the possession of either the recipient or the deliverer, but I'm not sure if I've seen one where the driver claims to have delivered something, but still has the package and then they automatically send it back to the shipper, without notice to anyone, with no questioning why the truck still had a package marked as delivered.

Hope this gets sorted out for you, as Bobby mentioned, if its still at the local hub, you can have it returned.

Sorry to hear about that, don't worry it will be there soon. They should not send it back after one delivery attempt, they make at least three, then hold it at the local hub for you for pickup, then if no pickup is made, then they send it back.

Hi xii, that is a shame.

I wonder if this is a driver who didn't want to deal with the big wooden box. You might want to pick it up at a delivery station if that is possible. If they deliver it check all the corners and edges for damages. There is always a chance it might get dropped out the back of a truck. I am not saying Fedex would do that but just be careful. If you see any damage at all on the outside of the crate make a note on the delivery receipt you sign. If the box is really beat up don't accept it with out seeing the contents. If the driver says you can't do that then ask to speak to his Supervisor before he leaves.

Maybe Bobby can tell us if this is good advise.

Frank

In the old says you could make the entry on the signature page...but not anymore. Also, you have to sign for it before the driver can release it, so an inspection is not possible. Calling the manager won't do anything. The managers phone number is internal and all the driver will do is give the 800 number to the call center.

The procedure is to sign for the freight and, if it is damaged, file a claim. Keep the packaging for inspection later.

Sucks...but it is what it is.

Thanks Bobby,

However, when they hand me the computer or paper to sign I write "Box has Damage" before I sign. Not much they can do about it.

Hi Frank,

Yes, it's true you can do that but internally they changed the claims procedures because of fraud. Whether yo write anything, or nothing, on the delivery record....it doesn't matter one way or another with respect to the claims department.

I used to let the customer write what they wanted to make them feel better but would always tell them to still initiate a claim and save the packaging.

Thanks for all the kind words.  I did get the system (seemingly undamaged).  I had to really be mean to the fedex people, who let the system begin its return trip back to CA.  It was a few cities away and I basically told them if I didn't have that system by 5pm est - there would be a problem (because the fedex website said they had delivered it and it was "refused.  However, they local depot said they refused to deliver it because the driver didn't like the size.)

Either way - I told them the notice on the website was absolutely BS, they never tried to deliver it and they claimed they had.  Come to find out it went to the local depot and stayed there until they sent it back.  So - I jumped in some arse parts - talked to the manager and poof - here comes a truck 1 hour later carrying only my crate.  My precious.. yess...

Review/Pics coming, I just have some logistical issues I didn't play for aka..  holy !@#$ this case is massssive.

Good for you xii for pushing the issue. The driver is lucky you don't report him/her to the District manager; he/she would be fired. If it's to big, then they simply take it out for delivery and have dispatch send another driver in the area to meet at your house to help unload it and carry it to your front door.

It's times like this I hate to admit being a FedEx employee because a few bad apples make the whole company look bad.

I'm sorry you had issues with FedEx but I'm glad you pushed back hard to get them to do the right thing.

I can see it now ( I'm sure this didn't happen).

You call Fed-ex.
You climb in arse.
Manager finally agrees to accomadte you the customer.
Fedex, at this time, has you crate.
Fed-ex then does some drop test with said crate becasue they suck and the customer was right.

I hope all is well with pc.

Two more things.
1. Alex posted a few pictures and only thing I could think to say to you is "You Suck, I hate you".  Lol.
2.  Did Fed-ex even leave a tag on your door, to help them lie, saying they tried to deliver package?

Shot.

PS. Alex I would like to return my Hailstorm for an Aventum.

That was why I was so mad.  They claimed to have attempted, nobody ever came to the house ever.  One, I was awake and about, two the motion sensors in the yard would have gone off.  Ninja

Anyway - system testing tomorrow around noon.  Pretty excited.
