I just called in and got my tarantula swapped for a lycosa keyboard. Also added Cabling and got my 2 extra fans confirmed. I have to post this to let you newcomers know that DSO has customer service like no other.. 5 Stars =] I am currently still in stage 1 but like so many others i'm friggin' psyched about this PC. Just wanted to let you new comers know that if you're seeking customer satisfaction, these guys are definitly the way to go...for the people who have had problems I can understand their frustration but I am a firm believer that DSO WILL fix the problem even if that means a little more patience (and I know that is the hardest part). 3 Year Warranty for the win!
Good luck to everyone on their new pc's being built! Edited by Cr8ton - 28 Nov 2007 at 2:51pm |

Ya, they have customer service that is on site and can answer questions. One thing that is becoming very uncommon. Try calling many other places and see what you get. I called Linksys the other day to verify some of my utilities were going to be compatible with Vista. I got someone name "Poojh" who I could barely understand. Nothing but canned / scripted answers. When I got done I knew less than before I had called. It was sad.
Alex answers every PM that I have sent him with quality answers to all of my questions.

This is a good post to consider. All of you people that run into problems need to understand that great companies can fall short of less than perfect, even though you can read Cr8ton's post that it seems that DS is perfect.
Keep in perspective that great companies can fall short of the mark. But the mark of a great company is one that stands with its customer to the end. Emotions will always skew one's perspective on anything. It will cause you to see a glass half empty, or a glass half full. Those who have issues with equipment, software, shipping and response times, remember this, you will typically rate your experience through an emotional filter in the moment. Everyone wants to feel like their respected, loved and important, but how you react in those moments define you. Those who come to these forums and piss on everything should feel grateful that you're not told to go pound sand. Lesser companies would treat you that way. Golly, DS can't please everyone. I guess I'll take my ball home and piss on the world. |

I agree with you Ed. Sure, I have had a few days where I have been mad as hell. But, I have found that a PM to ALEX ALWAYS results in every single question answered and issue resolved and I always go away happy again. Here is stuff to ponder: A neighbor of mine bought a mass marketed lap top for his daughter. Sure it worked great at first. But, then problems arose in about 8 months. I knew it was a bad hard drive. He spent hours on the phone until they finally gave him a RMA to send it back (and thats WITH a 2 year extended warranty he bought up front). After getting it back about 3 weeks later, it croaked again in a week. This time he paid the shipping himself to avoid the phone hassle. It was the hard drive AGAIN!
Just one more short story:
A year and a half ago another neighbor bought a rig from Dell. He don't game so he just wanted basiclly an email / internet machine. After it arrived he asked me to help him set it up as he knows as much about computers as I do rocket science.
There were parts missing from the box (cables for the printer, and the Micro-soft Office disc he paid for) and some slight software issues do to all of the junk they load on their systems. I fixed the software / OS issue but had to call about the cable and the disc.
Long story short, after several phone trees and speaking with several people in far away lands that loved the hold or transfer button, I just gave him an old USB cord I had. It took him more time on the phone and about 2 weeks to finally get his MSO disc.
So, I guess my point is this. DSO is going through growing pains and these are special built to order rigs. Problems come up, tempers get short, people complain.
But, I have found that no matter what.... They answer the phone. Give you answers. And seem to care that you are happy, either by phone call or email.

“I love you Man” Remember that ad campaign? Wow, that dates me and it not even that old. Anyway, I am drooling for… no, wait, that sounds real bad… I am looking forward to the day that I have my DSO rig sitting below my desk and blasting off enough heat to bake my legs, but it will be OK as I will be running everything on MAX and I will be happy! And then I will say the above catch phrase! Woot!

My rig is so hot it makes my Schweaty Balls glisten against the blue cathode lighting backdrop.

so far customer service has exceeded my expectations. Today i'm going to make YET AGAIN another, yes I said another alteration to my system ( they are probably wondering why i just wont leave it alone) lol but honestly! After this adjustment I should be set and ready to...wait! lol and stop changing my config, i just noticed that the difference between the two 10,000 RPM WD HD's are the Cache size and I wanted to go with the 16 Cache but ended up with the 8.. If this goes smooothly I will put a seal on my satisfaction of DSO and their customer service =] I'll check back and post how it goes..
