It's a 8800GT with 1gb of memory, nothing else is different about the card.

it's just manufacturers trying to get dummies to waste their money.

An 8800GT with 1GB of memory is pretty useless anyways, it only has a 256-bit interface, doesn't support DX10.1 or Tri-SLI. No one with a brain would buy this card for high resolutions (2560x1600++)...

More memory is only better if the game uses it but there are no games today that use more than ~512...

skyR,

I didn't know this. Does this mean that the performance delta between 8800 GTX and GTSs is completely attributable to the architecture of the card and not at all the the extra memory?

Doesn't seem right.. why would they make it 768 megs in that case?

Yep, the little difference in memory has nothing to do with the performance difference between the GTS and GTX.

Nvidia gave the GTX more because it was their flagship.

No difference in performance for 8800GT 256 vs 512 or 8800GTS 320 vs 640 until high resolutions come into play... and 512 vs 1024 is the same.
