This is the basics.
Config # 3414276 To see it, enter that number in "load Config" main page upper right. As we discussed elsewhere, you definitely want to wait for the RTX 3070 to be available. Since it's not, I subbed in the 2070 because my best guess is it will cost around the same...ish. So I've fudged a bit on the build to leave room in the budget. As is, it comes in at $2290 after discount. If you do have a couple extra hundo, after the 3070 gets priced, you could spend it on the Lumos, but you wouldn't get the free RGB the Lynx has. Or you could get a 1TB SATA SSD instead of the HDD. Those are your best upgrades. You are set everywhere else IMO. You definitely want to keep the Asus TUF mobo, the 850W PSU, the NVMe primary drive, and the dual fan cooler. The 10700K is no budget move, it's actually the best proc for gaming right now IMHO. IDK if DS will have to delay offering the 3070 until it's actually in stock or not. They did not do that with the 3080. I've heard the 3070 is due mid-Oct, and if they do offer early it should debut any day now. Patience. It is such a killer card for 2K! |

Hmm, it seems your code is sending me to lynx level 2, not a custom build. If you would send me new code, it'll be great! otherwise... Thx man for the second time! Now I think I chose my pc, just gotta save for it! |

Sorry, don't know what happened there.
This is it: 3416043 These are definitely the assembly of base parts you want to go with that GPU. There's not a gimp in sight. The SSD you want to replace the mechanical hard drive is the Samsung 860 EVO. You'll have only to add $109 to get that instead. It's my pleasure to help out. Since you are saving, it will help a lot with the wait for the 3070. It shouldn't be too much longer. All the best. |

I've decided to raise my budget a little bit.
Is this a good setup? 3418294 I know the new graphics card will come out, but I am getting this better graphics card in case I upgrade my monitor in the future. Edited by JimBob - 26 Sep 2020 at 8:45pm |

might as well change the CPU overclock to stage 1 since it is free anyway.

What the heck, for $272 over budget, it's gonna make you really happy. The overclock is a toss-up with me. The Turbo feature helps out whenever needed for gaming, and if it's that's all you do, I don't know why you'd need all the cores jacked up. It's just going to mean more heat for little gain. If you have a whole list of productivity apps to use, then it will benefit. Coin-flip IMHO.

I'm probably not going to overclock because as Cretae mentioned, it doesn't mean much in gaming and just causes a bunch more unnecessary heat which is not what I want.
Thanks for the advice guys! One more question though, will the founders edition for the rtx 3080 or the one with the three fans have better cooling in the Lynx case? And do founders edition perform better? Edited by JimBob - 27 Sep 2020 at 8:08am |

JayzTwoCents just did a video comparing the Founder's Edition to an EVGA triple fan, I think it was a FTW card, and showed that the FE actually cooled better in a controlled environment. All case fans locked to a certain rpm on both tests. The big issue is ... which cards are having the issues. The FE is safe, AIB cards are experiencing issues. See the post Cretae referenced to get the "skinny" on what's going on.
I am still checking all the time to see how the AIBs are going to fix this issue. More than likely, a software/bios side fix to underclock the core speed by 50-100 Mhz or more to stop the issue. When the cards boost up to the 2GB range, they get very unstable and crash. The FE's, from what I am hearing and reading, or safe. Also, the Asus Tuf brand is doing just fine. Good luck, it's a crap shoot right now. lol Edited by fwfdfireman - 28 Sep 2020 at 5:09am |

Hey, thanks for the kind words, but my "talent" is I'm retired and have plenty of time for this stuff. Yeah, it helps a bit I've been a gamer for 35 years, but much of this tech is as new to me as anyone. Your great find of the problem with the AIBs is more help to folks here than anything I've done in awhile.

The main problem with the new 3080s having issues is that those mfg's went cheap on the internals. A software "fix" to keep them below 2GHz is defeating. Wait a while and all will be fixed. Same thing happened with the first batch of 2080Tis. Edited by hoserator - 29 Sep 2020 at 4:39pm |
