    Posted: 24 Nov 2008 at 9:53am
So over the past few months i have been having ALOT of trouble with my PC. I Will  start from the beginning, i was running windows XP, and the PC crashed, then when i tried to turn it back on, it took about an hour to load and boot windows and completely start. After that the pc would constantly freeze/crash and i eventually reformatted, and installed windows all over again. I was good for awhile and about a week and a half later the same problems happened again, long boot times, crashing, freezing. So i decided to install windows Vista, i installed windows vista and everthing was running great, i mean really great, and last night i was on my computer, i restarted it after uninstalling a game, and when it turned back on, i would go to do something, everything would freeze, and about 30-45 seconds later, everything would load up ( say i opened my computer, it would freeze, and after a long wait, my computer would pop up) and it did that ALOT, like seriously every 10 seconds. I am about to throw this PC out the window, i spent alot of cash for alotta problems =/ When i first bought the PC it had problems, sent it back 3 times, they considered it a lemon, and said they would build me a new PC, get the PC back with same Video Cards, and hard Drives, been fighting all these problems for months and im just about fed up, im not a computer sepcialist so i cant just up and fix all this myself

I wonder if hooking up a external HD and running that as primary and installing XP or Vista (whichever one you want) and see if your computor will run ok with no problems..

I wonder if it is a defective HD ?

Hmm...could be a heat issue...

No blue-screens yet?  That would seem to rule out RAM at least...

use spinrite on your pc...it fixes alot of low level sector problems with hard drives, and screwed up mbr's that could be causing your pc to do these behaviors

well i reinstalled windows, thinking that would be the best idea, Reinstalled with windows vista 64 bit ultimate (silly me) Went to go install my motherboard drivers (asus m2n4-sli) and it says kernal mode cannot execute, so i install my graphic card drivers, and then my audio drivers, reboot, and i get Windows failed to start error

Lunchbox,

I understand your situation, and I am very sorry for the issues you are having.

We have dealt with these types of situations many times in the past. Honestly, it's usually always software. And, especially when I looked at the track record of your order, we have replaced the hardware multiple times, and it looks as if, a clean install resolves it, and after some time it kicks right back up.

I would highly recommend trying to do a system restore in safe-mode to an earlier point when you didn't have issues. Or, even if it comes down to it, install Vista again on a fresh install, and carefully watch everything you install into the unit and try to point-point exactly what is causing the issue.

It can be software, a program, driver updates, game patches, and even peripherals that are plugged into the system.

Warm Regards,
Alex
