Last night I was getting mad flickering and strange display issues so I am pretty sure one of my ultras is going down.  I will test further tonight but if it turns out one is done, then 1 8800 ultra isn't going to be enough to power some of the newer games out.

Seeing as I have a 680i (thus pci-e x1) am I going to really be at that big of a disadvantage with using these newer video cards that are out?  Does anyone have any suggestions of an upgrade path?  I game in 1920x1200.

2x GTX 275s

well going by the charts somebody posted, you might be able to get away with a 260 GTX without losing much performance.

But is a single 260 > dual 8800 ultras?  I guess most single card solutions won't be but I have had so much trouble with SLI these past two years I am afraid of sticking with it.  Would a GTX 295 be a waste on my mobo?

295 GTX is in sli, its just internal.

a 260 can give any where from 5 to 15 fps over a 8800 ultra at your resolution, of course that is in PCI 2, not sure how a PCI 1.0 would do.

my 8800gtx just died.  Everything had lines through it and hieroglyphics.  I must say that I got my money's worth tho.  2+ hours a day on max settings (1920x1200) playing titles like AoC, Lotro, COD4, and Crysis for 2 years = dead gtx.  It's okay...my new 295gtx is a beast!!!

Dear Ac,

Mine setup is 2 years old and I'll have to replace my 8800 GTX one day. What motherboard and processor do you have? I have the 680i and the QX 6700 quad core cpu. I was told here on the forums that the 295 does not support pci 1.0 and you would not get full benefits out of it. Is it hard to hook up and do you see a marked improvement over the 8800GTX when it was working?
Please let me know.
Thanks so much,
Drumbanger
