Many years ago someone gave me a little paragraph to read and asked me to count how many 'of"s  there were in it. I counted six. I was asked to read it again and I counted seven. There was actual like a dozen or so, 'of's! The thing is, the human mind reads so fast that it doesn't slow down to process small words like, 'of'. I had a copy of that paragraph for years and I loved asking people to read it to get their reaction. Anal type people found most of them because they're such detailed oriented people. Insecure people would get kinda offended cuz they thought it was about trying make them feel dumb. Most people just had a good laugh about it. Wish I still had it. It was very cleverly written.

hehe these things just boggle my mind.  I just find it really weird how the brain can process these words like they are.

That's also one of the reasons why I have to use spell check. I tend to mistype words when I am typing so fast. When I read it over, they look correct!

EXACTLY!!! I am starting to believe that in a lot of cases when one is typing, if it's *somtehnig* like this because of hand patters which can "glitch" on you, you just never see the mistakes on the first check.  Well you never see all of them on the first check.

So if the brain only reads words as a whole and not by letters, that seems like a logical fact that when typing regardless of your grammar or whichever, your going to screw up because you don't see it right away.

I still have yet to see a perfect college paper without any spelling errors.

So if you think about it, some people on other forums are so rude when someone doesn't spell something right.  Just as long as the first letter and the last letter of the word are correct, you could always say to them "you can read this because the human brain processes the words as a whole and not by letters".  So if someone says they can't read it, they are full of Censored. LOL

srl50, if you can find that, please post it because I want to check that out.
