can you explain how you ordered you computer? I too will be using Fed Ex international. Did you have to call Alex since there is the extra cost for shipping? And did you have to pay all up front even though ds might not know the total weight?

I did most of the shipping stuff through Mark.  Originally, I had it going to my APO address in England.  They were willing to ship it in it's normal box via Postal, but highly suggested against it.  I totally agreed with them because I offload cargo/mail off jets everyday, unless it went as registered mail.  The dimensions of the box were too big for Reg-mail, so we found an alternate way to go...

I paid for my PC/APO shipping when I first ordered the rig and had them add the additional charges onto my card after they figured out how much it would cost.
 
I've spoken to Alex once on the phone early in the process, but I can gaurantee you that Mark is well versed in this process after dealing/assisting me with this.
 
Ultimately, I'm paying about $700 total to ship to my commercial address in England (I live off-base) including the cost of the crate ($200).  I'm sure it would/could have been cheaper had I just kept the cardboard box instead of a wooden 33x14x32 crate.  Total shipping time was quoted at 6 days from Cali-England.
