I'm going to be trying my hand at building a small budget computer for a friend in the summer (<$900), and am going with a i5 2300 but wanna try some overclocking on it...From my understanding, running non "K" sandy bridge processors on P67 or Z68 boards works to some extent, anyone have info on how much though?

It's very difficult overclocking non "K" processors because you can only adjust the BLCK. It won't overclock that high.

Yep, I know the the multiplier's locked, just wondering how high adjusting base clock will get it.

dont quote me on this as i dont pay much attention to the non k series SB procs. You could prob OC a decent bit ocing by changing the turbo bin values.

Here's some information I've found:

Exactly any CPU with no K on the end is locked. 16-35 only means you can run it slower then stock. 35 is the highest it can go stock. Your only option is 100-107 bclck, which will get you no where near 4.0

Expect 3.7 max.
