i5 6500 with gtx 1070 or 1080 ?

So I've been slowly upgrading my vanquish rig which I started from adding a new hard drive and I've been thinking whether I should upgrade my 1060 6gb to a 1070 or 1080. My question is will it do good combining a 1070 or 1080 with an i5 6500 processor? Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

IMHO, you should not run into any problems with that.

I would encourage you, however to be judicious in pairing a video upgrade to your needs. Just to splurge on a 1080 because you can isn't a very good idea unless you need the power. Not a big fan of having video overhead you'll never use. Are you upgrading your monitor?

Just curious, I took a look at the GTX 1660 Ti and found it to be about 33% faster than the 1060 you have, and only about 4% off the performance of a 1070 That's Turing architecture like the 20 series and GDDR 6. Don't overlook the newer cards, they may be very competitive price-wise.
