Hey guys,

So, my rig is already on the way and i suppose it doesn't matter now.... BUT..  with all the "gotta go with i7" talk, i'm worried that my i5-750 isn't going to be enough.  This will be a purely gaming rig, no video editing or anything.  Will this processor (overclocked of course) be enough to last me through the next few years of gaming??

BTW... my video card:   GTX 470
gaming on a 24'' 1900x1200 monitor

Thanks

the X58 socket shines with multiple GPU's.  with a single GTX 470, you will notice no difference in gaming.

quick and easy answer!  I like it!

I just wanted to make sure that my processor was not going to be any kind of bottleneck in my gaming.   <--- noob

Thanks again

that CPU will be fine for years of gaming. BFBC2 is about the only game out there right now that will push your CPU, but if you play that game, you can log the CPU usage, and I bet you still will be only 70% load on CPU. most other games only need 2 threads, a few use 3 and a few use 4. BFBC2 is the only one I know of that can use 6.

So does that mean an I7 870 paired with a 480 gtx can run most games as well?
