i7 920 or 960?

well i know the 960 is better, but is it worth the price? is the 920 good enough or should i upgrade? what do you guys think?

I would go for the i920 hands down. You can OC that to 4ghz for a lot cheaper than buying the960.. Only difference is you'll get slightly better temps with the 960 chip but not by much.

that is not entirely corrrect.

yes go with 920 cause you will not notice a difference between the 2 chips at 3.7GHz or 4.0GHz performance-wise.

however each chip is different, a 960 can endup cooler, the same or hotter then a 920, you never know, its a luck of the draw, each chip is different.

Overclock the i7 920. Hey, I had DSO overclock mine with the reg intel heatsink and it's running at 3.33 Ghz stable. Who knows how high you can ramp it up with liquid cooling!
