Hi Guys,

Well I am glad I found this forum.

My specs are in my Sig. I moved my XFX vid card and X-fi sound card to this new MOBO.

I thought I would upgrade to this i7 set up from a quad core 4 gig ram setup on an Asus republic of gamers board, which ran everything superbly.
Now I find myself frustrated and disappointed.

the i7 system seems sluggish & hestitant and GAMING?? forget it...the system snags and hangs every 2-3 minutes. The intro movie to BF2142 is like watching a schizo on crack jitter his way across the street !

I have talked to OCZ they gave me Bios settings to change on the RAM to
8-8-8-20 & 1.66v  they had me change my command rate to 2t, trs to 45, trfc to 90, and they had me set the ram to run at 1333mhz even though the CPU is defaulted to 1064mhz

XFX's only advice was to wipe my system and do a fresh windows install ! LOL forget that ! I did uninstall all the Nvidia drivers and utilities and downloaded and reinstalled the new updated driver set and utilities from XFX , but that didnt work either.

My question is this...my last hope to try and clock the CPU to 1333mhz for my RAM? will it work?

If so, can you guys tell me how to change my Bios settings for the CPU? I can do it direct in the bios, or use the INTEL desktop Control center they provided. I dont want to try it without info from guys who know what they are doing, I'm not a pro, as it would appear most of you are.

 What do you think?

thanks for any help!

you didn't get your pc here did you?

something is not right, what your system is doing is not normal so I don't want you to think this is how i7 is, this is how i7 is on your pc, which is not normal.

No sir,

I didnt buy a DIGITAL storm system, I built it myself as i have all my computers for the past 7 years.

I am not a pro...I just like to build them and turn them on and watch them work.

until NOW, I have never had any issues.

So trouble shooting it .....I just just moved the ram around. unseated adn reseated everything 3 times now.

NADA.....same oel jittery Video and gameplay.

 I do ADMIRE the DIGITAL STORM....work though...Ouch

I am thinking, I will either, try different OCZ RAM, or buy an ASUS motherobard if I dont figure this out in the next couple of days.

first off, go EVGA x58 its a much better board.

second, your problem might be your GPU. any chance you can get your old GPU out of the old box and trying it here? I'm thinking you problem is with our GPU, it could be the GPU itself, drivers or even possibly PSU.

what I would do first is set all bios settings to default and use the default timing on your ram.

you can also run memtest on your ram memtest and find out if anything is wrong.

for different if its needed, try mushkin.

also for an i7 system you should have gone with vita 64bit

hi,

 thanks for the reply.

Well the XFX 9800 Gx2 I am using with my intel i7 940 and DX58SO

is the same XFX 9800 GX2 that worked fine on my quad core cpu on the Asus Republic of gamers mobo.

I guess, I will try a different MOBO, EVGA or Rampage.

any other ideas, I am all ears.  until I figure this out.........no gaming for me....sad sad dayyyyyyBig%20smile

I wish I was smart enoug to make that memtest 86 work....I tried 3 times today no luck..........guess thats what i get for bein' an amateur.

well hold on, we are here to help don't quite so fast.

what was the problem with memtest? you need to extract it and then burn it to a cd and then reboot the pc and boot from that cd.

no rampage, go with evga x58.

is sli enabled in the control panel? is there any problems reported under device manager? what version of the drivers are you using?

what is your psu?

Good morning,

I checked the NVIDIA control panel...Multi GPU is "NOW" enabled.

I check the BIOS setting for video and enabled PCIE,

Power Supply is a Thermaltake 850 watt with enough 6 & 8 pin plugs to run 3 PCI cards.

WELL the system is working now.........THE XFX was running on 1 GPU and I enabled the other....we're good to go !

thanks for all your help guys !

Now Im going to yell at XFX....heh, reformat my system....They coulda taken the time to tell me to mkae sure their CARD settings were right !

1000w? then its not PSU. we can rule that out for now.

memetest needs to run for 3 to 4 hours.

also I want you to go to nvidia's site and use their latest graphic drivers, uninstall the current xfx drivers, reboot PC then install the Nvidia drivers, you can find the drivers you need for XP here: GeForce Driver Release 182.50

EDIT: I see you got it to work, great, I would still use the Nvidia drivers from now on, I don't like xfx and their drivers, I'm a very big fan of EVGA as you can tell from the avatar, but even with them I use nvidia's drivers they seem to have less bugs.

if things are working fine, forget the ram test

good luck
