Which processor would be the better choice? The price for a build with each is different, thats the reason for the question.

Where'd you get that idea? The 900s can't get anywhere near 5.4GHz. The 2000s are also faster clock for clock. |

the 2600K beats my cpu the 980x almost in every aspect but one.
and as everybody said the 2600k oces higher and runs cooler and uses less power. but wait for the mobo fix before you do your build. |

i don't need the mobo fix for my build since i'll just be using the sata ports for a cd drive and hdd no ssd and external usb backup drive.
edit: doesn't look like i have much of a chance since they aren't selling them anywhere anyway. well my goal is to have this build by summer and i need a few hundred $ more anyway so mid march is fine by me. double edit: the mobo isn't cheaper was looking at the wrong socket Edited by maxyme - 23 Feb 2011 at 1:45am |

yes SB is dual channel, but it has vastly improved RAM performance over previous dual channel platforms. It is a good mainstream platform, and will only get better as BIOS' mature. |

If the price difference is just a bit higher, go with pro (not M-pro), you get more pci lanes, and some other extras like blutooth.

with the asus pro? and blutooth is always nice (even tho i've never used it since my laptops cheap and doesn't support it)
i'll probably go with sandy bridge unless i can get an amazing deal for the 950 just depends if i can make the money by summer. because begging of summer is the deadline for me building it. if i can't use it this summer than i'll have to wait a whole year until i can because of school. |
