So... this question is sort of pointed towards DSTME4 since I know he has been waiting for them before ordering his rig, but I'm interested in what others think as well..
What sort of monster rig are you planning to build when i7 hits the streets?
Game on...

I'm hoping for a Skulltrail i7 with 2 x i7 965
4 x GPU (what ever that can fold faster at the time) which means I will probably need a damn 1200w PSU LC the CPU, still contemplating LCing the GPUs if I can squeeze a sound card in there I will. 6GB highest ram I can get a hold of. 300GB veloci raptor 500GB 7200 rpm Edited by DST4ME - 12 Nov 2008 at 2:29pm |

I will but first the i7 Skulltrail needs to come out otherwise I might have to settle for a single processor.
the above system is my wishful thinking

When I say Special Deals, I mean their premade configurations that are ready to rock.

Wow! Those are going to rock... :) I'll be interested to see some numbers and pics thrown around. I know Tom's Hardware did a pretty good review (i'm guessing, I usually don’t understand much after the intro and prior to conclusion... ;)). Sounded like its going to boost gaming and power a good amount though, especially if you run at 1900x1200 or above range. Woop! --AOM |

All things go well...this will be my config.
Already have Monitor, KB, mouse, speakers, etc......
Cooller Master Cosmos S Case ( still undecided about case, could very well change)
Case painted RED outside, and GREEN or BLUE inside
1000 PC Power and cooling PSU
i7 965 Extreme (oc'd and LC)
EVGA mobo (if available)
6 gig 1800mhz RAM
2x GTX 280 (SC Edition or OC'd by DS, and LC)
Vista 64
2x 300gig Raptors
Extras not offered by DS....
Creative Fatal1ty Soundcard with front I/O panel (i like creative, so sue me :))
NZXT Sentry 1 Fan/Temp Controller (temps for CPU, 2xGPU, 2xHDD)
NO LED FANS PERIOD!!!!!!!!
UV reactive Coolant or Coolant tubing
Visible cables sleved with UV reactive material (if they can't I will )
Thats about it really, still not convinced im going with i7, but we shall see, all depends on how much more money my investments loose
Everything is subject to change at my (or wifes) discretion

Speaking of investments, I noticed Intel revised Q4 earnings downward.
Bit surprising since they are releasing new processor. I guess they are projecting a tough up hill battle to prove computers need this extra horsepower for the average user?
I wonder if this will cause the i7 followon architectures to be delayed? Come'on AMD! We need to keep the pressure on in the processor supreme race so they cant sit on their laurels... =)

I'm hoping that the revised Q4 lower earning will bring better prices
