Going to be purchasing in the couple of weeks. Was wondering if DSO could post any information on what they've seen so far in overclocking the i7; in particular the 920 and 940. |

depends if you get LC or not. Your OC will be higher if you get LC. also , DS isnt that agressive with their OC's . you will more then likley be able to push it more when you get it.

Good point on LC vs air. For myself I'd be looking at what DS has seen using air. Hoping they can post some initial findings from what they've seen. e.g. can they get the 920 up to 3.5; higher, lower, ???

Well since i7 came-out just yesterday you have to give them a week to build them, OC them, test them and then have some final numbers we can see

If you do a google search there is quite a bit out there. Nothing reported from DS yet though.

Yes but its not from real every day users, and no indication of what DS will be putting out, I like to see what comes out of DS and then what members can do with it.
IMO in google we don't know the people and don't have their parts, here we get to see first hand what the systems can do, so we can get a clear idea of what to expect from DS. Just my thoughts, what do you think PB? |

I wonder what ever happend to ds putting out the vidio comparing i7 to core 2 they said somthing about this on the forums about a month ago. Posted in Nehalem whats your take.
The first DS Lab video will compare a Nahalem system versus a similar Penryn based unit. Cheers,

Yes, we are working on the video, sorry for the delay. We been busying launching a new revision of our configurator.
We have pushed these processors to at least 3.5GHz (even the low end models) and 4.0GHz+ for the 965 EE.
Warm Regards,
Alex

So if we order a i7 965 for our rigs, will we be getting the overclock with LC at 4.0+? That would be cool!! Edited by J*DIZZLE - 01 Dec 2008 at 6:39am |

I remember reading an article where i7 965 was overclocked @ 5.2 on liquid nitrogen. Extremely insane!

With the 965, we have pushed it to 4.0GHz safely on liquid cooling.
With the other i7 processors, expect around 3.4GHz-3.6GHz.

Alex

It looks like the lower end ones are giving a lot of bang for the buck

when you consider that the 920 beats the qx9770 in almost everything, then you see they truly are the best bang for the buck.
