Didn't miss it here.    Yeah, DS is definitely upping their game to meet customer satisfaction.   I didn't think we'd see the 1080 for some time.

Agreed bprat. I thought they'd need to burn through their older inventory. These Pascal cards though are pretty amazing. The 1060 = 980 for a lot less $$. Definitely nuts!

Yep, DS is bowing to the strong desire for the new Pascal cards, even though the Maxwell are still great cards.   Pascal didn't just make Maxwell  crap, but old is old in a lot of eyes. 

New cards are creating quite the excitement.  Big%20Smile

while I would normaly agree, the 1070 is such a upgrade that if you want a gpu to last 3+ years a 1070 is the way to go.

Gpu at best is good for about 3 years then you need to upgrade and the requierments for games gets higher and higher, just look back at the top card 3 years ago.

true, but if your planing to stay at 1080p for awhile this card will be a good buy for the next 3 years as there is nothing on ultra that even tests it.

There will be better cards/performance/price to go with next with whatever new tech.

So yes it will do great for gaming at 1080p for the next 3 years but nobody is gonna want to buy a 1070 a year or two from now.

Which was what I was saying all along.

A good gpu is good for 2-3 years(depending on res/games) but will probably need to be upgraded after that.
