Kelly, Alex, DS team and techies on the forums, this is a friend of mine I asked to come here and share his ideas with you on a build. For his budget build, steer him in a good direction.
Thanks guys! |

nvm i found your wishlist here..
http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=6705712 You are forgetting a case... If you are building your own computer, I suggest going with Intel because they offer better performance. Your PSU is overkill and not a very good pick for $149, you don't need 700W for SLI 8600GTS. Try and find a Corsair or SeaSonic... one of the best in the industry. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151027 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004 You can get 2GB Corsair XMS2 800MHz with timings of 4-4-4-12 for $49 after mail-in rebate. Or 2GB OCZ 800MHz with similiar timings for $39 after mail-in rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227139 Your graphics card isn't a great choice either. If you want to stick with lifetime warranty offered by Nvidia partners, than try and step up to a 8800GT or wait for the 8800GT 256mb that is going to be priced at around $199. If you aren't concerned about the warranty, go with a Radeon HD3850 or HD3870. They are priced at $179 and $219 and completely destroy the GTS and just slightly trails behind the 8800GT. I'm sure if you do some snooping around or wait until this Friday, there will be tons of killer deals O.O Edited by skyR - 19 Nov 2007 at 10:13pm |

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231114
$75 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150252 $270 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029 $195 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151027 $141 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131142 $125 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136074 $79 roughly total comes to $885.. There might not be any 8800GT in stock since they are in very high demand right now.. =\ Check your local hardware and electronic stores for 8800GT like BestBuy or Frys, they might be selling for a cheaper price than Newegg. If you don't plan on going SLI in the future, you can save by downgrading the mobo and PSU a bit. And if you don't plan on SLI or care about warranty, you could save about $100 and get a Radeon 3870. If you are really on a tight budget, you can downgrade the ram to the OCZ or Corsair... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227139 |
