Greetings to the DSO staff and community

I've been visiting this forum since I read the review in MaximumPC, which was outstanding. I am really interested in purchasing a gaming rig from here, but in the last few weeks there have been some "build time" issues and "staging area" issues.    I am guessing that these issues have been resolved now that the "move" is complete and holidays are over.

My biggest question is about the availability of the 8800GT 512mb cards, Ive been reading that they are in short supply but high demand and is DSO stocked with adequate supplies of them.  Also about the 680i boards, I read that they have problems. Is that false?

It appears as though Alex is "DA Man" and has responded and handled issues very professionally and quickly. But what I need is to be nudged to the "buy" side of the fence. Im looking at getting the Twister Pro based on the cards in SLI, Im running SLI now.

well sorry for my 1st post being so long but..... Yall understandWink

Don't rush the cook unless you like undercooked food =) I've had a much longer wait than some that have been posted, doesn't sour me on the whole.

to be sure that ordering during the holidays is a exercise in patience to say the least, lol. However, I can say that they have been really good with customer service here. I too noticed that the 8800GT cards were really hard to get, so I changed my cards to 8800GTSs. I didn't hear about the 680i board thing though.

I ordered my PC on the 15th of December and I am in Stage one still. I did changed my memory (2GB to 4GBs), OS (Ultimate 32bit to 64bit), Cards, and got a couple extra fans. Do I think that those upgrades warranted this long of a build time extension? not really, but I am patient. They have had their plates full there and I understand that, so I cut them a lot of slack. It would have been nice to enjoy my computer before having to go back to school and a note explaining the delays would have been nice to get in my e-mail, but meh, no biggie. I look forward to getting my new system. Smile

For me, the build times weren't really that big of an issue. It was the lack of updates (sat on stage 2 for 10 days, then skipped stage 3 and shipped). But apparently that has all been sorted out, which is good to hear.

I haven't heard anything specifically from DS about 8800 GT shortages or 680i problems, but if there is a problem with that mobo you would surely find info on it here : http://www.evga.com/forums/tt.asp?forumid=13

Akkim's post sums it up quite nicely.

The update issue seems to be taken care of.

Today I was notified via automated email that my machine had moved into Stage 2.  I called and verified with Dave that it was indeed in testing.  The Customer Service link on the website was updated to read Stage 2, and I also got a personal email from Alex this evening updating me to the new status.  3 separate updates to the new status!  Makes me happy.
