Does anyone know why a lot of textures in my games are blurry and not very detailed? This is very noticeable when I play Quake 4, as like even a marine or a door is insanely blurred and untextured. It's not as noticeable on Crysis until you look at the far away mountains or a road sign. I am currently using two Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX's in SLI config. I'm guessing there's probably some Nvidia setting that has to be raised and is probably an easy fix. I've always been an ATI user and so I don't know much about working with Nvidia.

at first glance this seems to me like you noticing depth of field, cant speak for Q4 as ive never been a fan, but with crysis yea however, there are plenty of options in the nvida control panel that can be tweaked... glancing over http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_6.html should help decide where you want to set things

Well I've tweaked everything how I want it... but it still hasn't changed my games at all. I spent all morning going through different settings on Quake 4.. and I've discovered that what I'm experiencing is like what you would see if you disabled Bump maps.. only it looks a tad-bit better for me with them enabled. And as for depth of field, I can be standing dead in front of a sign and it'll still be blurry... yes it does improve as I get closer to it, but not much. Anyone else have any other ideas?

No, the max setting on my monitor is 1280x1024 and that's what I have it set on. I just finished playing FEAR and it plays perfect. There are no blurry images or any performance problems at all. As for Quake... the game plays perfectly smooth, it just looks terrible.

Are textures and all the settings in Advaced graphics settings turned up? Also have you looked for a patch or game update? You may also want to reset everything back to defaults in the game. You also may want to try rolling back to an older nvidia driver

lol actually I had a 19" monitor until my 22" Acer finally arrived.. now I'm at 1680x1050. And in response to Randy, yes all graphic settings are at max. I have updated it to the most recent patch and I have tried reseting to to defaults. I'm guessing then my only solution is going to be to reset to an old driver.

1. Were the textures not blurry before and are now blurry, or are you just noticing the textures being blurry from the get-go (coming from an ATI card?)
2. Have you checked the Nvidia control panel>Image settings with preview, make sure there are no over-rides. "Let the 3d App decide" should be checked by default. 3. Can you provide an in-game screenshot? Most games will allow you to capture the screen, by pressing the Print Screen [PRNTSRN] button (it will copy the screen to your clipboard - open MS PAINT and edit>paste). |

Well it's finally fixed! I can't be exactly sure of what fixed the problem, but I know it has to be either when I reinstalled my Nvidia driver or when I did the Image setting check mentioned above. But anyways... thanks for the help!
