For $11, get the Corsair Vengeance RAM (or Dominator for $43!) and your RAM will be warranted for 5 years vs 1. All the DS branded parts are warranted only for the warranty period you select (standard is 1 year parts). They are not cheapies, but they are less expensive primarily because there's no Brand Name warranty.
You want the Samsung 970 PRO or the 970 Plus NVMe for drive one for the same reason, but also they are ~5x faster than the Digital Storm which is a SATA drive, not NVMe. Of the two, the Plus is newer, but you would not notice the difference in performance, because they are both really fast. I know you need lots of storage. You might want to consider the 3TB HDDs for only $23 more each. The RTX 2080 SUPER will do an excellent job powering your monitor. You want one of the Corsair coolers for the same warranty coverage as above. The H115i will be best for overclocking, but the H100i is good too. The GPU is plenty fast already, and the extra heat and stress from the mild overclock doesn't net much performance worth the chance you might shorten the lifespan. Since you're a musician, you might want to do a little research on those headphones. I don't know much, but I do know that many times a gaming headset performs poorly at music reproduction. You might consider a case fans upgrade, and a level 2 overclock if they're in the budget. I'd highly recommend the H115i cooler for the oc upgrade. Hope it helps. |

Agree with Cretae on the tweaks to the build suggested.
If you are working on music, you probably won’t find a gaming headset that is accurate enough or high enough quality for music work. Plan on also finding some serious studio ears by Sennheiser, Sony, Fostex, Shure, AKG....etc. Edited by HockeyBuck - 07 Sep 2019 at 10:35am |

Sure... Add on sound cards are not needed at all these days. The quality you need is there right on the motherboard.
Your MSI motherboard has the excellent Realtek ALC1220P-VB2 Codec with 7:1 High Def sound onboard, and that will serve you well for music and everything else. You can look that up to see what all it can do for you. Very common audio codec on most new motherboards of all brands. |
