It has been a month since I have ordered my configuration, and the last couple of time I have contacted DigitalStorm they have indicated they were waiting on the 5970's.  Does anyone have a idea when more will be received so my poor computer can move out of Stage 5?

I understand but not being employed with DS, none of us can help, but maybe Alex or Sarah will chime in, however if you want to know when your system gets its own, then you have to check with them directly, cause others might be ahead of you in line waiting for it.

this is the main reason why i don't order video cards that are highly demanding .. having to wait and wait. you could have just ordered a DS system without the 5970, or just ordered the cheapest gpu, and later buy the 5970 elsewhere.

ya but not everybody wants to pay for 2 gpus or they may not have the money, I personally don't mind waiting.

but different strokes for different folks.

i had not seen GadgetMan mentioning 2* 5970s (wow, what a gaming pc !!) .. maybe it was in a different thread. but seeing how demanding that card is and the availability, it may take a while depending on how soon DS will have it in stock and the waiting line.
 
maybe i could wait, but i would never expect standing in line for a month.

lol no, its a long story, its really been like 2 years I think, first I waited a year for i7 to come out, then I waited for the 295, by the time that came out, classified was due out, so I waited for that, then when that came out the 295 was not in stock so we have to wait for that, which endup waiting for single pcb, so they came in summer time, then we had to wait for water blocks for the cards, then corsair case came out and had to wait for that, then we realized that 4 x 295 would not fit on 3x sli, so we had to wait for the 4x sli, then we had to wait for the wb for the 4x sli, and now finally I think we got it all, so now its actually being build

Well, start planning out your new 16 core system now, with 6x Nvidia Curie cards, an EVGA 6x SLI Above Top Secret board and the appropriate liquid cooling.  You can get a head start on that wait. Smile

I am sorry for the lack of supply on behalf of ATI.
 
They are very slowly providing the 5970 series to the market and as soon as they come out, we do our best to grab them from all areas including distribution and even retail stores.
 
Don't worry, your on the top of the list we're doing our best to get them as quickly as possible.

Maybe its just me, but both graphic card makers seem to be doing a number on supply and demand lately.  Keeping prices up on the high end, especially with new cards on the near horizon....or am I now just another conspiracy theorist...Tongue ?

I have heard something about them having the same chip supplier who's struggling with demand.   Not sure if that's accurate or not.

And the holiday rush probably lead to higher sales.
