Hey guys, it's been about 4 - 5 months since I bought my computer, and I've been thinking of installing a second fan in the front. (The case I have is the Corsair 300R, which only came with 1 fan in the front.)
I don't think I need a ridiculously powerful fan, I just want some airflow over my hard drives, since they tend to get a little on the hotter side without any fan in front of them (and especially since I also plan to install another hard drive--totaling 1 SSD & 2 HDDs).
The only problem is, I'm not entirely sure where I would plug the fan in. I guess I can either use a molex to plug the fan into the PSU or plug it into the mobo. The only fan slot left in the mobo, however, is the 3-pin PWR_FAN slot. Where would you guys recommend plugging in the fan? I was looking at either
this or
this fan. Do either of those fans look good? Any other suggestions? |

The second , Coolemaster fan you linked, the specs show it being quieter with the same airflow. Might as well go quiet.
You could connect the 3 pin to the mobo header as you said or get a ' 3 to 4 pin pass through connector ' the first link's fan shows and connect to a 4 pin peripheral cable from psu. That would be my choice but either works. Good luck.
