this is going to be the i7 replacement at the same i7 pricepoint 6 cores 12 threads. i belive the 990 extreme will be 8 cores 14 threads due q3 because i think thats why there is a quarter delay they wanted to push the extreme chips out.

ahh yea thats what i got from that article also. Only thing that confuses me is there still is some uncertainty as to will the E series actually use quad channel ram or not. The extreme editions may be the only ones to do so and thus making another form of sandy needing a different type of motherboard. Edited by RiceEatin2000GT - 12 Feb 2011 at 7:17pm |

either way it will need another mobo because its a whole new socket :) but yea many deatails aren't known yet. i'm still kinda debating if its worth it to get the new socket. probably if i get the money in q3 i'll get it but anything before no way can't wait that long.

i know what you mean. and i'm worse then you. dual core amd athlon with 4gb ram and the freaking radeon 3200 or something. i can barley run team fortress 2 on all low settings!
i have a really powerful 1k rig in mind to build myself but i wish i could get a cheap little i5 or something till the new chip but its a new socket which complicates things... |
