That's crazy how well the Thermalright Ultra did against Watercooling, granted it was an open test bench and like he said, in normal scenario, in a close case, the air cooler would dump all the warm air back into the case as opposed to liquid cooling that get rid of the warm air.

I pose a question, DSO ever think of using the Thermalright Ultra insead of OCZ? If it cools extremely well, why not use it?

that just one site, before I accept those results I would need to see at-least 5 other sites arriving at the same conclusion.

Nice video tho.

well the heat in that case has more room to be pushed pass 3.8 yet the charts in your link show failure, unless I missed something, in which case forgive me.

I still want to see someone do this with the 940. I want to know how high I can actually get before failure.

it will differ from chip to chip but I'm sure 3.8 is doable easily

That hardocp review you linked to was for the Rampage Extreme, not the R2E one lol.

One thing is certain then - getting over 4GHz out of these CPUs will separate the men from the boys in overclocking or at least those with time to commit to it because it demands time playing with the finer settings like clock skews.

We could get 4.3GHz to boot into Windows, but any attempt at loading the CPU for a length of time caused continual blue-screens. Over 4.3GHz and there was no POST at all, regardless of voltages and memory frequency.

in-depth, better than hardocp -.^

actually it was an article on overclocking a core i7 920 just like what hardocp did but just very more in-depth.

bit-tech's review of the core i7 920 940 960 line is actually on their site.
