Any preferences on whether i7-950 with gtx-580 graphics or i7-2600k with gtx 580. Potential buyers, which would you choose?  So far I am still researching.

you don't need the i7 for gaming. But of course i would (and did) go with the 2600k because of its better oc performance and its just simply new technology. I do rendering and after fx stuff so i need the extra threads.

Go with the 2600k build, higher oc's and much cooler temps. Not to mention it will save you money and give you better performance.

you actually save money with the 950 because its on sale in many places. but another reason to go with the 2600k is that 8gb is the perfect ammount of ram i think 6 is slightly too little.

For strictly gaming..4GB of ram is actually enough.  I have two computers.  One that runs 4GB and the other 6GB of ram and there is literally no difference.

Now with that said..that is strictly gaming.  If you want to run two monitors while having iTunes running and other stuff, then 6GB to 8GB is great. For now, you never need more then 8GB.

Your money is best spent on the 2600k is will do better no matter what and the price is pretty much the same here.

if you are going with win7 64bit go with more then 4GB,cause win7 64bit needs 2GB itself.

don't waste money on 580, there is no need for it, depending on your res, we can show you other gpu solutions that will give you the same performance.
