I am considering buying an ODE 1 and buying an Intel 320 series ssd, 120 gb, and installing it when I get the ODE 1. I recall a post and responses a few weeks ago about power cycling problems with this the 320 series ssd. So, I sent Intel this email question:

"I am considering buying an Intel 320 series, 120 gb solid state drive for my desktop pc. Is there a problem with this drive that requires a firmware update before I use it? Internet search comes up with some problems but I don't know if these are old problems with power down or if Intel has corrected them."

This is their response:

"Thank you for your recent email. This error is related to unsafe power loss under very specific conditions which have a very low probability of occurrence. We have a firmware solution identified and are testing it thoroughly before release. Only Intel(r) SSD 320 Series SSDs and Lyndonville QS SSDs are affected.

Thank you for giving Intel® the opportunity to assist you. Just let me know if I can be of any further help.

If you have any further questions or need assistance please call 800-538-3373 or visit: http://www.intel.com/feedback.htm. Thank you again for contacting the Intel® Presales Support Team."

Thank you for posting that, as a side note, we have updated the ODE line to use a faster SSD drive, the new Corsair Force GT series.

The Corsair seems to be a good, fast ssd drive. I just wish it was available as an addition to the ODE 1. The ODE 1 has everything I want except an ssd.

desto there is nothing wrong with the 320 the new firmware is out to deal with any existing issues, now the corsair uses the sandforce 2281 conroller, which is no where near as reliable as the intel, research that controller and see what you find, its the same controller vertex 3 uses.

the corsair drives are faster but I would not call them as reliable as the intel 320.

keep in mind the 320 has a 5 year warranty the corsair has a 3 year warranty, the rest is up to you.

now as far as ode 1 goes, you can add whatever ssd easy to whichever.
