I bought a new DS computer, which arrived a few weeks ago now. I've been plagued with intermittent crashes, and I'm just not sure where to go from here.

Possibly relevant info:
The GPU is a 3080 performance series.
PSU is the Digital Storm 850W, 80 Plus Gold
Computer is plugged into a UPS, with 900W output. While playing games, I've rarely seen it above 600W output.
GPU is not overclocked (not by me, nor by DS)

The hard crashes will occur only while playing games (any game I've tried...cyberpunk will crash within 5-10 minutes, whereas warcraft will generally go a few hours), and most often (but not always) while zoning into a new area.

I"ve heard that random hard lock ups while playing games could point to a PSU problem, but 850W should be more than sufficient to run the system.

I've tried monitoring GPU temp, and the voltage coming over the 12V supply. Never seen GPU over 82C (and its crashed while in the 70s). The 12V line fluctuates +/- 0.1 V or so, with largest jumps coinciding with changing zones.

Not really sure where to go from here. Does this seem like a PSU problem? Am I asking too much of the UPS? Do I need to replace the UPS with a line conditioner? do I need to *downclock* the 3080?

get into DS technical support. They can remotely access your machine and walk you through the steps to find out exactly what's going on. Give them a call.

Are they 24x7 support? My day job keeps me pretty busy, but the major reason I *haven't* called them yet is due to the intermittent nature. Its not like they can tell me to adjust some BIOS setting, or do this other thing, and be able to see if it fixed the problem or not. Was kinda assuming this would be iterations over things to monitor as I have time.

I would probably try to see if the UPS is causing the issue by bypassing it and seeing if the crashes go away.

A ups can cause stability issues just like a PSU can cause them. By bypassing the UPS you can rule out the UPS as a problem with your system.

Sometimes crashes can also be caused by memory XMP, I'd resetting BIOS settings to defaults, which in result will reset memory XMP settings.

Afterwards, try playing the game again and see what happens from there.

If you find the system to be more stable, then I would recommend contacting support to swap your sticks of memory out.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me an e-mail: [email protected]
