Well it finally happened. I never thought it would...
I was careless on space monitoring (with video editing & downloading) before heading out(doors) for pre-Fourth of July friend festivities. When I arrived home this morning my internal IDE (don't laugh) Seagate was maxed out as displayed from the pop up window prompt from the operating system. (also viewed my C:// drive under My Computer with "0" on the bytes of free space!) So I quickly deleted 10 GB's of data after external backup... Question : This has never happened to me...does maxing out your internal hardrive (accidentally!) have the potential to manifest disk damage later on/long term? I've heard stories where people say their desktops freeze up or restart in that situation but THANKFULLY neither occurred. Just curious what happens typically to a drive that would be maxed out and if there are major repercussions. I'm running Windows XP PRo if that means anything? It will have a long term effect, just like if you were to overheat a computer item. it would affect the life, but it is so insignificant that you will most likely have a computer or too afterwards before it fails
So dont worry unless you plan on using this computer for 7+ years... |

are you asking if there is something wrong with filling up a drive? if so, then other performance loss of the HDD no, of course if this is the os drive, the lack of room will create problems for the os itslef.
