So i kinda feel like ordering internationally with DS is kinda a pain in the ass and theres alot of work behind it. I know they primarely have costumers in the US, but i think DS should offer some better method for people around the world to buy a computer. Right now if you wanna order internationally you have to send in your configuration number of your system along with your shipping address. You can also only pay with wire transfer or paypal. I think DS should give international costumers the opportunity to order the same way as US costumers just by selecting their contry in the shipping addres field and type in their addres. And aswell should be available to pay with Visa card or Mastercard.
Atleast thats my thoughts on it, what do the forum think?

I believe DS is doing what they can for everybody, the steps international customers have to take are steps DS needs them to take in order to cover themselves from any issues.
as for credit cards, I'm not sure but laws in different countries are different than here and its not in DS's best interest to accept CC from other countries. I like to point out that you can use a CC with paypal. |

I second what DST said. Digital Storm needs to cover themselves and the customer when dealing with the added regulations, taxes, tariffs, etc in international trade. I am no expert, far from it, in what it takes, but DS isn't gonna create any more work than is necessary. Why would they?
Best of luck in any decision you make.

Paypal is a much simpler and much more secure options for international payments and does more to protect both consumers and Digital Storm. As other people have pointed out every country has different laws and regulations that have to be followed which make it a nightmare when doing international business.
In terms of size DS is not a huge company, they are good but they are not as big as something like Dell or Apple. So as a smaller business they will sometimes have to do things differently, like needing paypal for international orders. The alternative would be even worse, if they had to spend the time and money to get themselves set up to process credit card payments from every country possible they would have to pass that cost on to you the consumer. I work for a multi-billion dollar retailer who just recently started selling and shipping internationally. Even for us, a much larger business then DS, we still use a special 3rd party payment processor who specializes in things like international payments. It's not the same thing as Paypal but is very similar as in the customers payment goes to them and then they pay us. Making a payment with paypal is actually quicker, and more secure, once your account is created and verified. You just click pay, log in to paypal, confirm the payment and you done. Your credit card info does not have to get put in for each transaction and no one at DS will ever see your credit card info. I think Alex said in a post once that they process "a couple hundred" orders each month. While that is very good it's not a lot in the world for commerce and retail. The company I work for processes some times tens of thousands of orders each DAY. Hell we process several thousand credits and replacements each day on top of the thousands or tens of thousands of new orders each day. And again even we use a 3rd party payment processor for international orders. Edited by jmaster299 - 26 Nov 2011 at 12:59pm |

The issue with international orders is that, every order is different. We have to manually calculate the duty/tax/custom fees for every customer. We don't want to provide incorrect quotes. If you would like to make an international purchase, we're more than happy to help. Please send an email to: [email protected] with the saved configuration ID of the system you want and your full shipping address. Hope that helps!
