what speed do you get with this?
you have to remember just because I can download at 35mbps, it does not mean that the server I'm downloading from, supports upload speeds that fast. Edited by DST4ME - 07 Jan 2011 at 12:59am |

Mb is also different than MB, be aware of the denotion in speed test sites and downloaders. Mb is megabit and MB is megabyte. Big difference lol, 8 bits = 1 byte.

lol HOLD ON.
I don't want you run the file, I wanted you to tell me what was your max speed downloading the file. and yes always remember kb and KB are different as are Mb and MB. small case is bits and upper case is bytes. as ablah mentioned 8 bits = 1 byte so tell me what your download speed was while downloading the vantage file. |

Just use http://www.speedtest.net/. Lets you know your speed in megabits format.
I only get about a third of my rated connection speed as well, but the house's internet wiring is like 15 years old and the ISP is too cheap to want to replace it, so I figure that's the bottleneck. Not like I need more though, Steam is about the only thing that can ever even reach that speed, and it's not like I'm downloading new games every day, and they don't take long to download as is. |

if you use opera, it can tell you how fast you are downloading stuff.
as you can see the test shows you at 21Mb/s download, but the files you download from sites and etc, is different , due to the upload speed of those servers. |

To make your download speed fast, just contact the internet Service provider,
After that check your internet speed test, through this site http://www.ip-details.com/internet-speed-test/ It has the best result about internet speed test, internet service provider, location, country and and also provides the IP details at free cost itself....... I'm not sure how contacting his isp will make his download speed fast, you mean the allowable speed? that is different then actual download speed, as I mentioned your download speed depends on the server's upload speed that you are trying to download from.

I recently bought a wireless network usb adaptor "netgear dual band n usb", it seems like these new type of usb adaptor do not work well with my isp provider's router. I am getting like 1mb/sec upload and download speed compared to my old hawking wireless g adaptor (getting 20mb/sec avd upload/download speed). Anyone know how to get around this problem? or should I buy another hawking old type usb adaptor for my other computer.

@Dragoonseal, I was thinking that but the editing the post made me think maybe its not, lol.
@dsnoob, is anything around your wirless that could be interfering with it? also is your speed based on what you download or a test from speedtest? @Oni-Tenshi, when doing the test try 3 different servers closest to you, then try one from new york. |

My current bundle is about $10-$20 cheaper than the Verizon bundle with the same services (Phone and Internet), but about
5 FREAKING TIMES SLOWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*eh-em* And to top it off, we can barely afford our current service. Life sucks.

in my area the most common are verizon and comcast. comcast is charging the crap outa me and im sick of it but i dont wanna get into verizon cause its too slow for me. maybe i should check out rcn. Comcast has deals for same speeeds for 20 bux but only for new customers, completely bs cause i gotta pay almost 4x that amount right now

RCN charges a good amount in my area for that 50/6 tho.
to be honest with all of you, once you go pass 10 mbps, you don't really notice any difference in download speeds, since most servers we download from don't support the speeds of the lines we have, I honestly can say I have seen no difference between my old 15 mbps download and my current 35 mbps download, not in downloading off the net, not in surfing, not in p2p, not in apps. I really hate comcrap, not only do they give us crap service but their customer services acts like we own them something. |

Haha I could do this but then I would almost instantly lose my network connection because my university has anti-sharing policy and other anti-illegal stuff. They are under contract with media companies to monitor the network to ensure no one is violating any piracy laws.
So basically I would get kicked out of college...therefore I only use this super fast connection for bragging rights haha.

Pretty good actually. I'm really loving it here and my only complaint would be the meal plan that Drexel that requires me to have. Have any specific questions? You go to college as well?
