I need guidance figuring out what monitor to buy for my new Digital Storm PC. A summary of my system's configuration is below (I'm also adding a 1TB hard drive I already own).
It's doubling as a business PC that will last a long time and, in my free time, a machine that will mostly be used for gaming and video (and possibly video editing). Gaming = Battlefield 3, Skyrim, WoW. You can see in my configuration that I have one GTX 570 (1.2GB) but have left room to expand to a second one (but don't think I need it right now). I've seen some of the newer IPS monitors and they look great. At $900+ they also seem pricey. So I'm trying to walk a narrow line between what I want/need without overbuying. Here's my sense of what seems right: Size: 24-27" Resolution: 1920x1200. Confused about whether I should care 60hz vs 120hz. Response Time: <= 5ms (seems to be debate as to how much this matters). HDMI: Yes. Monitor Stand: Must be height-adjustable. Thoughts on specs and then specific displays? Thanks in advance. Most important thing about a monitor is its panel, right now there are 2 major ones, TN and IPS, IPS has superior picture quality/clarity.
1. response time is a bs number, its there to fool you and does not represent the true response time of the monitor, there is no real way of truly finding what response time is, the closest to it is white to white but you don't see that, you see grey to grey or black to black cause they give small numbers to fool users but they don't mean anything, there are different methods to get these numbers also, and each will give a different number as results, therefore you can even compare one to the other, cause we don't know what method was used for which, and even if we did, still GTG or BTB don't mean anything. 2. contrast ratio is also bs number. here are some good IPS monitors for their price: Dell UltraSharp U2412M Dell UltraSharp u2312 for around a $1000 you would get a 30" kickass IPs monitor. can you post your config number its hard to read yoru config specially since its not listed how they are on the config page, I can tell you that you should go with 1050hx psu for better reliability/quality. unless hdmi is 1.4 its not what you want.
